The International Session in Frankfurt

Every year, three International Sessions of the European Youth Parliament take place in different European countries. We are glad to host the 64th International Session from 30 July to 8 August in Germany. Here, 250 teenagers, 16 to 20 years old, from 33 European countries will meet and explore Europe together. The Hessian Minister-President Roland Koch and Frankfurt’s Lord Mayor Petra Roth have adopted patronage of the session. On the European level the EYP is under the patronage of the president of the European Parliament, Mr Jerzy Buzek. Furthermore the president of the European Central Bank, Mr Jean-Claude Trichet, will address the delegates during the General Assembly in the Paulskirche.

For ten days Frankfurt am Main will be a hotspot for exciting debates about European political topics. The young delegates will exchange ideas and visions of Europe’s future and make friends across borders. They will discuss current topics of European politics and draft resolutions, which will then be debated according to the rules of the European Parliament.

Turning Europe Inside Out

The delegates of the International session will focus especially on Europe’s role in a globalised world. Therefore we will confront the participants with diverse views and opinions on Europe itself. Moreover, they will try to find out what the outside world demands of Europe. According to the theme of the session “Turning Europe Inside Out” we will take into account economic, social and cultural aspects and develop ideas for the future design of Europe.
