Travel
Dear Participants, if you are successfully registered for Frankfurt 2010, it is time to book
your trip to Frankfurt. In order for all of you to arrive safely at the session, we kindly ask you to
read through this page to avoid problems. Very important facts are:
- There are two Frankfurt’s in Germany. Our session is taking place in Frankfurt am Main.
- Make sure to arrive in Frankfurt on Friday, July 30th before 6pm! Departures are on Sunday, August 8th.
- As soon as you book your tickets please go to http://travel.frankfurt2010.eu/ and fill in all necessary information including the exact time of arrival, flight/train/bus number and where you are coming from. If you would like to fill out the form for a group travelling together you have to name each person. In this case the persons indicated do not have to fill out the travel form for themselves. Please fill out the travel form before June 20th!
- Organisers will meet you at these destinations only:
- Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA)
- Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof (main train station)
- Frankfurt am Main ZOB (Zentraler Omnibusbahnhof/central bus station).
- If you arrive at one of these places organisers will meet you and take care of your transfer to the youth hostel. Throughout the entire session we will be staying in the Youth Hostel Frankfurt (www.jugendherberge-frankfurt.de, Deutschherrnufer 12, 60594 Frankfurt a. M.) situated close to the centre of Frankfurt and directly next to the Main river.
Travelling by Plane
Frankfurt Airport FRA (www.frankfurt-airport.de) is huge and very well connected to all major
European cities.
We recommend you not to fly to the airport Frankfurt Hahn HHN (www.hahn-airport.de),
because of a serious lack of public transport connecting it to the city of Frankfurt. There are
buses to Frankfurt Central Station, where we can pick you up, but these are regularly booked
out and we do not have the capacity to pick you up from the airport in Hahn. It will be your
responsibility and at your own expense to get into the city. If you choose this approach please
use the travel form nonetheless. Please keep in mind that the bus trip from the airport in Hahn
to Frankfurt will take approximately 1,5 hours. In case of delays in your arrival it would be very
helpful, if you could contact the organisers once you arrive.
If you choose to fly to Frankfurt, we encourage you to offset your carbon footprint (e.g.
via www.atmosfair.de)
Travelling by Train
If you decide to travel by train, make sure you are travelling to Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof
(Central station). All train schedules can be found at www.bahn.de.
Travelling by Bus
There are international bus connections to Frankfurt am Main ZOB, a central bus station located
next to the main train station. One company offering connections is Eurolines
(www.eurolines.com).
We wish you a safe journey and are very much looking forward to welcoming you on
Friday, July 30th in Frankfurt am Main!
